Spirituality

At Bulford St Leonard's, we believe spirituality is at the heart of what makes us human. It is woven through every aspect of school life, helping our children to understand themselves, build meaningful relationships, appreciate the beauty of the world and consider the possibility of something beyond themselves.

As an open, inclusive and diverse Church of England school, we want every child to feel known, valued and encouraged to flourish. We believe spirituality grows through learning, relationships, reflection and service. It is not confined to Religious Education or Collective Worship; it is experienced throughout our curriculum, our Personal Development offer and the everyday moments that make school life so special.

Windows, Mirrors and Doors

Using the Windows, Mirrors and Doors approach, we encourage children to:

Windows – windows help children look out into the world with curiosity and wonder. They notice things that are amazing, beautiful, exciting or sometimes difficult or upsetting. The child might ask What do I notice? What makes me wonder?

Mirrors – mirrors help children look inward and reflect on their thoughts, feelings and experiences. They consider big questions and think about what they have learnt. The child might ask What does this mean to me? What can I learn from it?

Doors – doors help children put their thoughts and values into action. They respond to what they have noticed and reflect on it by making positive choices. The child might ask What can I do now?

This approach is woven throughout our curriculum, Collective Worship and wider Personal Development offer, helping children grow into reflective, compassionate and courageous young people.
